Live Art takes place IN THE MOMENT- while live music is being played. This is an improvisational process that allows the picture to create itself based upon the flow of the music. Even if an image is predetermined before the performance, the way that the band is playing the music will alter the color, subject matter, and handling that takes place on the board. I have found that the best Live Art occurs on it’s own merits by keeping an opened mind and by trying to remove myself from the process by concentration on the music and focusing on the sound rather than allowing myself to get too involved with the details.
It DOES help to know the band’s material since I won’t be taken by surprise by twists and turns that take place in the individual songs, but I have been VERY Surprised at how clear and strong some images appear during shows by bands whose music I have never heard before. Every performance is different even when I know the band’s music, so it is always an exciting challenge for me, which certainly MUST be felt by the band and the viewers as the spirit of FUN translates before their eyes in living color.
It is almost like a ‘sport’ to race a band, not knowing where the picture will go at any given moment. It is always an adventure because every performance ‘One of a Kind.
I am available to work for events and I have been contracted by individual bands as well.
